Following the successful refurbishment of The Hub’s Sports and Social Building, Roshal was appointed to modernise the main WC facilities, bringing them in line with the newly refurbished offices.
With a project value of £70,000, the refurbishment focused on creating modern, durable and hygienic facilities while improving accessibility and functionality.
The existing WC facilities required a complete transformation to complement the newly modernised areas of The Hub.
The project covered four areas: the male WC, female WC, DDA-compliant WC and cleaners’ store. The works required careful coordination of building, plumbing and electrical services while integrating new installations with the existing infrastructure.
Roshal carried out a complete strip-out of the existing facilities, including:
The male and female WCs were completely upgraded with new full-height IPS panels and sanitaryware.
Each WC received:
Existing door openings were altered to accommodate larger three-person sinks, helping achieve the required 1:1 ratio of hand-wash stations to WCs.
A dedicated DDA-compliant WC was fitted with a new Doc M pack, including compliant sanitaryware, grab rails, WC pan and accessible sink.
A new DDA alarm system was also installed to provide an appropriate accessible emergency facility.
To create a consistent finish throughout the refurbished facilities, Roshal installed new 600mm x 600mm suspended ceiling systems using Aruba tegular-edge ceiling tiles.
Walls were finished with full-height Altro Whiterock cladding with welded joints, providing a durable, hygienic and easy-to-maintain surface.
New Polyflor Stone FX concrete-effect flooring was installed throughout, complete with welded joints and cap-and-cove skirting. Floors were self-levelled where required prior to installation.
New solid-core timber veneer doors and frames were also fitted, complemented by new ironmongery, signage and kick plates to match the newly refurbished office areas.
New plumbing connections were installed for the Corian-style sinks, back-to-wall WC pans and sensor-operated taps, integrating with the existing water and waste services.
The cleaners’ store was also upgraded with a new Belfast sink and associated plumbing connections.
The electrical works included:
All electrical works were completed in accordance with the relevant British Standards and regulations, with circuits tested and certified on completion.
The £70,000 refurbishment has transformed The Hub’s main WC facilities, bringing them in line with the modern standards established throughout the refurbished offices.
The combination of contemporary sanitaryware, durable finishes, improved lighting, sensor technology and accessible facilities has created a modern, hygienic and functional environment designed to meet the demands of a busy workplace.
The project demonstrates Roshal’s ability to coordinate multiple trades and deliver a high-quality refurbishment while integrating new systems and finishes into an existing building.
