About the Client.

One of the top 20 research-led universities in the country, Loughborough is renowned for the relevance of its work, driven by society’s need for solutions to real-life issues. They are also ranked the world’s number one University for sport-related academia by the QS Rankings. They are a campus-based university in the small town of Loughborough with university accommodation both on campus and spread throughout the town.

The brief.

Loughborough University have been a long-standing client for Roshal and it is through this loyal, long term relationship that they approached us to refurbish one of their staff accommodation houses just off campus.

This 4 bedroom, Victorian detached house was tired and run down with need for a extensive renovation. Loughborough University awarded us the project as a turnkey service including both electrical and mechanical elements.

Our Solution.

Roshal deployed a multiskilled team for this project due to the varying works. Firstly, the property was gutted, and some walls demolished to create a better flow and use of the space, such as a large dinning kitchen rather than two separate rooms. This involved structural work in which our civils team were bought in to create a structurally sound opening and install a steal beam and reinforcements.

Our project manager met the client onsite to handover the project in which the client was extremely happy.

When uncovering the floor boards it was found that this needed to be replaced due to the original boards being rotten. We proposed an engineered wood flooring that would be sympathetic to the style of the house but also affordable.

Electrical and mechanical works were both integral to the project in which our teams carried out.

A fully fitted kitchen was installed along with 2 new bathrooms completing the project. Any utility or other rooms/features to note, fireplaces etc?
