Long Clawson

About the client 

Long Clawson Dairy has been making English cheeses for over a century and continue to use the same methods that their founders used to produce award-winning cheese. 

Their milk comes from 41 local farms in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, many of which they have worked with for generations and although best known for their Blue Stilton, they also produce a number of other delicious English cheeses and cheese products, such as Blue Shropshire, Rutland red and a range of sweet & savoury cheese blends.  

The brief 

The brief for this project was to execute a contemporary design for their board room that was produced by an architect already working with the client. Whilst we offer our own design service, we are also happy to fulfil the client’s vision if a design is already agreed. 

Our solution 

Working within the dairy’s brand guideline, the navy, mid blue and yellow colours where key to the design with a gentle nod to the industry with ‘cheese’ wall mounted shapes and the brands values wall graphics throughout. 

Timber panels were produced in our workshop to clad the walls, with bespoke recessed areas for frames and a large formal acrylic panel displaying their brand values. The furniture was carefully considered with a large format table being bespoke made, with stylish boardroom chairs in a vibrant blue, a sideboard and occasion table. A feature floor was created the same range tiles but in different hues to create a grounding for the table. A drinks and refreshments area was installed at one end with bespoke shelving for trophies and industry awards won by the company.  

However, the showstopper of the design was the ‘floating’ ceiling installation that hangs down above the board room table, with feature lighting, glowing upwards. This was carefully engineered and created in our joinery shop by our carpenters and apprentices before being installed onsite. 

Working with strict access requirements, the majority of the work was undertaken during evening shifts to minimise disruption to the main working office. With a two week onsite deadline, Roshal completed this project on time and on budget!
