The Project
Roshal Space Consultants were appointed to supply and install new handrails at an NHS Health Centre to improve accessibility, safety and ease of movement throughout the building.
The works were completed within a live healthcare environment, requiring careful planning and consideration for patients, staff, visitors and other building users throughout the installation.
The Works
The project included the installation of continuous handrails to four staircases and associated landing areas, providing improved support and accessibility in accordance with the required DDA accessibility considerations.
The handrails were securely fixed to suitable substrates, with the fixing arrangements checked to ensure the handrails provided a stable and robust support system.
Additional handrail installations were completed externally, including:
Roshal Space Consultants , delivering practical accessibility and safety improvements within live commercial and healthcare environments.
Working in a Live Healthcare Environment
As the health centre remained operational during the works, the installation was carefully managed to minimise disruption to normal activities.
Work areas were kept controlled and tidy, with consideration given to pedestrian movements and the needs of patients, staff and visitors. Materials, tools and equipment were managed to prevent unnecessary obstruction to access routes.
The installation team worked around the operational requirements of the health centre, maintaining a clean and safe working environment throughout the project.
The Result
The completed installation provides improved hand support across the staircases, landings, entrance ramp and rear fire escape area.
The combination of internal white handrails and anthracite PVC-coated external handrails provides a practical, durable and visually clear solution, improving accessibility and safety for building users while complementing the existing healthcare environment.
