About the client.
Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Roshal has successfully been working with Caterpillar for the past 4 years at their offices in Leicester and also other sites across the UK, which has allowed us to build a special relationship with them, gaining understanding and knowledge in their requirements as if it was second nature.
The brief.
Roshal we asked to produce the space plan and office design for the ‘L’ building at Caterpillar, L2 being the second floor of this building and proceeding the project: ‘L1’ – which you can find a case study of here. This Phase 1 (L2) consisted of 1200m2 of main office space. and included glazed offices within this space, break out areas and soft seating.
The project was a complete turnkey refurbishment, which involved removing all existing fixtures, fittings and furniture. Any furniture removed from the area was either disposed of or handed back to the client for re-use. The refurbishment included replacing the ceiling where required, removing a cellular office, uplifting the existing floor and replacing with new carpet tiles. Roshal then installed the new furniture as per the signed off design which seated 152 people in the main office, along with informal meeting areas with soft seating.
The project was a complete turnkey refurbishment
Our solution.
Due to the area being a main office space CAT employees were required to vacate the area and work remotely. Roshal worked closely with CAT to produce a schedule of works that were as efficient as possible to ensure that this as refurbishment was executed with upmost precision taking into consideration this would only be possible if CAT carried out a company-wide factory shut down.
At design stage the selected concept was chosen with the understanding that if this was successful this could potentially be rolled out in other areas of the Desford site. Colours were carefully selected to help with making the room feel lighter and we also renewed all the light fittings & removed the lighting coffers, to assist with making the room brighter.
We fulfilled the supply and installation of all new furniture. This included desking solutions, chairs, screens low level storage and large format meeting tables.
We uplifted and removed existing vinyl walkways and carpet, re-designed the flooring to allow for durable floor where there is heavy traffic and installed high quality carpet tiles within the main office area.
The decoration was focused around CAT branding throughout.
Client Feedback.
