About the client.
Roshal has successfully been working with Caterpillar for the past 4 years, which has allowed us to build a special relationship with them, gaining understanding and knowledge in their requirements as if it is second nature. Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
The brief.
This project came as the second phase to the refurbishment and furniture project in the ‘L’ building at Caterpillar, comprising of project L2, completed in August and then L1, completed a few months later, in December.
L1, similarly to L2 was to design and transform the space consisting of 910m2 of main office and workstations, a large boardroom and multiple offices.
As per the L2 project, this project was also a full turnkey offering from space planning and design to full installation.
The design team worked with the CAT team to produce space plans and a specified design proposal, complimented with 3D renders and moodboards to help key stakeholders envision their new workspace and help aid sign off.
The project brief included a full site clearance of redundant furniture, equipment and partitioning and progressed to a total refurbishment including replacing the ceiling where required, laying new flooring and the installation of partitioning in a new formation proposed by Roshal that made the space work more efficiently for maximum capacity. Roshal were also asked to supply and installed new furniture for 120 people in the main office based on the signed off space plans and design.
The end result was welcomed by management and staff throughout the office, and another project Roshal are very proud of.
Our solution.
The schedule of works allowed 6 weeks from start to completion however, we understood the need to exceed expectations on these timings as all employees were relocated to remote working during this period.
Roshal managed to squeeze the schedule and complete the works within 4 weeks, allowing staff to move back in before the Christmas holiday.
Within the design stage, our design manager proposed a space plan that incorporated all Caterpillar’s requirement and gave them more workstations than previously briefed to which they were very impressed with and gave the go ahead almost immediately with little requirements for amendments.
We fulfilled the supply and installation of all new furniture, this included desking solutions, chairs, screens, low level storage and large format meeting tables.
We uplifted and removed existing vinyl walkways and carpet, re-designing the flooring to allow for a durable floor where there is heavy traffic and installed high quality carpet tiles within the main office area.
The ceiling was surveyed, and lighting adjusted where possible to remove coffers and make good to the existing laying grid and tiles.
The decoration was focused on CAT branding throughout which was one of the main elements of the brief.
Customer Feedback
“All works completed ahead of schedule and on budget. We are very satisfied with the works completed, for both L2 and L1 and we look forward to working on many more projects with Roshal”.
