About the Client

Bartech is an Electrical Consultant and Project Management company based on site at the main Boots site at Beeston in Nottinghamshire and they operate throughout the midlands offering a high level of technical expertise to many blue chip end user businesses.

The Brief

The project is designed to provide a second dedicated LV feed to the D101 building from the existing D31 T1 transformer room, with automatic supply failure switching and UPS back up for essential supplies within D101.

The project will need to be carried out in a way which will be sympathetic to the operations of the CMC facility and Colleague Health Centre (that occupies the Southern half of the premises), and planned and executed in such a way so as to minimise any disruption to the normal operations of the facility.

Change over and shutdown times will need to be pre-planned and agreed

The work will also include new LED lighting and small power requirements within the comms room

"The standard of work was first class, fully compliant and it was very clear that collectively they took pride in their work"

Our Solution

From the new T1 transformer high level ladder rack containment was installed on the external North elevation of the D31 building to a point where the new supply would then be buried.

A new 120mm four core SWA cable and 70mm clean earth cable were installed from D31 to the comms room area of D101.

The D31 cable end was made off and connected to the new T1 transformer and locked off until the planned change over

The new supply was made off and connected within the comms room at the new Auto change over panel. The new auto switch then feeds a Schneider wall mounted panel board which in turn feeds a new 12way TP&N board for essential circuits, the UPS, one existing DB within another part of the building and the existing DB within the comms room.

As part of the shutdown work the existing 95mm four core SWA cable will be Safely isolated, extended and connect to the new auto change over panel. Within the shutdown period, circuits that are considered essential in the existing comms room DB will be isolated and transferred into the new ESSENTAIL DB

Once all final connections are made and tested a planned power outage will be carried out to witness the auto change over switch is operational

NICEIC test certificates will be issued for works carried out
