About the client.

ASCL is a UK professional association for leaders of schools and colleges with over twenty thousand members.

The brief.

ASCL approached Roshal to help curate a new office interior for them resulting from an relocation from an old Georgian multi storey building to a large open plan space (503 m2) in much newer premises.  The space was a blank canvas to create a fun but professional office with the brief making provisions for all areas of their business including reception and entrance area, board rooms, meeting rooms, catch up pods, offices, social areas, IT comms room, data cabling, electrical work, internal and external signage, HVAC, flooring, kitchen installation and plumbing works, window dressing, partitioning manifestation, wall graphics, and a full range of accessories.

One of their main objectives was to provide a multi-zone office in a functional and practical way with the interior carrying a harmonious feel throughout. They wanted to invest in a space that their staff loved to work in, and guests felt comfortable in when visiting.

The project was a fully turnkey offering involving all head office and field departments. Roshal would design, project manage, manufacture, install and complete the project for handover to the ASCL Team along with their General Secretary Geoff Barton. We would also help with the legal aspects and provide information when needed to the landlords.

Our solution.

Working with the design team we created a space that ASCL were blown away with, including everything in the original brief and much more.

Bespoke pieces were designed and manufactured in our in-house joinery shop including a statement reception counter, sleek high top work bars, wooden slat walls, bookshelves, and a statement kitchen island.  Walls were removed and reinstalled to help the flow of the space along with new glazed partitioning to create more private offices and meeting rooms.

We were asked to provide a comprehensive IT network distribution based upon the category 6 cabling and emanating from a new IT cabinet in the server room which our electrical department installed, including containment. The cabling distribution served the network to new workstations, printers, telephones, and such from the central server. We also provided a UPS, which enables the IT system to run for a given period in the event of a power failure.

The existing HVAC system was discovered to need slightly more work on than originally thought to deliver a more efficient system and Roshal worked tiresomely to keep to the original schedule of works to incorporate additional works needed for this.

An additional accessories package was also provided to ensure that the new offices were fully ready and welcoming for staff returning. This covered everything from coffee table and bookshelf arrangements to a fully catered-for kitchen and those all important champagne glasses!

Additional service agreements for emergency light testing and HVAC maintenance will be provided on an ongoing basis annually.
