Here at Roshal, we are always on the look-out for inspiration when it comes to design. Something that we can reflect or include within our plans and proposals for clients, making it personal and a cut above the rest.

This inspiration could come from almost anything at any time: the simple lines or curve of a building we see as we rush through town to a meeting, or a particular hue we see within trees or flowers whilst on a walk at the weekend.

We also like to take inspiration from the history of the building we are working on, or the heritage of the company or industry they work within. Many of our clients love this personal touch we give to projects, which make them totally unique and tailored.

At Head Office, our reception area is built within a modern glass cube, inside the original headstock of an old 684ft mineshaft. To honour this wonderful history, the interior of our reception area reflects this industrial look and feel: through its materials, lighting, openness and the fabulous piece of artwork we commissioned.

It’s no secret (and a topic that has been fully researched) that the design of an environment has a significant effect on our emotional state, such as how creative we feel or our readiness to take on the day’s work. When the spaces we work in — the flow of these, the furniture, the lighting, textures and colours — have all been carefully considered, our lives improve. We are more effective and generally happier, not to mention able to enjoy the space we spend a considerable amount of time in.

Ultimately for employers, good design helps employees perform better. It makes business sense and those who invest in it reap the rewards both personally and professionally.

A client we worked with last year to help redesign their breakout and wellness area, came back to us a couple of months later commenting that they had seen a dramatic improvement in morale in the office. She attributed this 100% to our colourful, fun redesign.
