Built
Medicity is a pharma incubator based within Boots UK’s headquarters in Beeston, Nottingham. The building was constructed in the 1930s and is grade II listed.
We were asked to redesign and refurbish the ground floor entrance lobby and café area, in a way that would celebrate and take inspiration from the original features of the building.
"Roshal made the process really easy and were so accommodating"
Our in-house design team worked hard to create an environment that is chic and design-led, but also user friendly and sympathetic to the building’s art deco heritage.
We took care of the flooring, ceiling, decoration, joinery, lighting and fire rated partitioning. The design of the partitioning was influenced by the original critall glazing, which can be found throughout the building.
The bespoke café area was manufactured using a timber frame, clad in Polyrey and copper laminate with a Corian top, and vinyl flooring with an art deco tile effect.
The canteen area was designed and crafted in our joinery manufacturing facility including all integrated appliances. The Perspex lightbox pelmet adds a touch of 1930s glamour and really completes the installation.
Sara Lloyd from Medicity said: “Everyone who visits us is blown away with our new reception and café. Roshal made the process really easy and were so accommodating to any high-level tweaks that were requested.”
